Welcome Episode 21 of the Pulp Lit Pulpit!

Is ‘Write What You Know’ a No-No?

The editors are back with the second part of their five-part series on overrated writing advice. This week, in Episode 21, they tackle ‘write what you know’ — which becomes a little more complicated for us sci-fi- and fantasy-writing folks! And Sam offers some ideas on how to combat writers’ block and brings you a message from Your Writing Muse.

Also in Episode 21, Cadence Mandybura tackles the Pulp Questionnaire. Cadence is a Victoria-based writer and editor whose work appears in magazines like Fudoki, FreeFall, and the Bacopa Literary Review. Cadence’s piece ‘The Weeping Pools’ won our 2020 Hummingbird Flash Fiction Prize. And her ‘River’s Thousand-One Voice’ was a runner-up! We published both in Pulp Literature Issue 29. And that’s not all: Cadence is the second runner-up in the 2021 Raven Short Story Contest, for ‘Audrey and the Crow’! Look for it in a future issue of Pulp Literature. Visit Cadence at cadencemandybura.com.

Also, catch JM Landels‘s reading of Allaigna’s Song and Mel Anastasiou‘s reading of Stella Ryman and the Fairmount Manor Mysteries — the adventures continue! Pick up your own copies at the Pulp Literature bookstore.
