PULP LITERATURE PRESS
At Pulp Literature Press, we’re building a space for fiction that doesn’t check boxes — it breaks them open.
This is a place for authors whose voices are too sharp, too weird, too quiet, too loud, too commercial or not commercial enough, too anything for traditional publishing to know what to do with. We know exactly what to do: Publish them.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
A good book is like a pizza: it has an overall vibe, but is composed of many elements.
- Great writing
- Hard-to-define-the-genre stories.
- Unforgettable characters.
- Fresh new ideas about the future, far-flung worlds, and alternative pasts.
- Female leads grappling with life’s many curveballs and gaping wounds.
- Literary-leaning fiction with strong character arcs and emotional journeys.
- Books about things that matter: love, grief, power, identity, survival, reinvention, or revenge.
- Romance — sweet, spicy, queer — as long as it has a STORY. We’re not looking for hardcore erotica at this time.
- Crime fiction: humorous, dark, or a mix of both. And no, the story cannot open with the death of a sex worker or housewife. No more dead sisters as inciting incidents, thanks!
- Thrillers, domestic suspense, and psychological fiction.
- Romantic comedy, fantasy, sci-fi, and genre-crossing love stories.
- Paranormal fiction and magical realism.
- Feminist fiction with bite, beauty, and brains.
We love stories and art by and about underrepresented groups. We love to publish works featuring fiery feminism, a rainbow of 2SLGBTQIA+, skin colours that don’t begin with the letter ‘W’, Indigenous and immigrant experiences alike, and people of varying shapes, sizes, ages, and abilities.
We’re currently acquiring novels that centre women’s experiences in bold, emotionally resonant, or genre-defying ways.
OUR MISSION
We are committed to publishing:
- Stories with substance.
- Books that grapple with real and important issues.
- Novels that may have been overlooked because they don’t fit into a tidy box.
- Canadian and Commonwealth authors, though we will open queries several times a year to the global market.
Our sub-imprints include Pulp Mystery, Pulp Fantasy, Pulp Spec, Pulp History, and now Pulp Femme and Pulp Romance.
If you’ve ever been told your book is “too niche,” “too feminist,” or “too weird to market” we want to see it.
Unagented (and agented) submissions welcome!

WHO SHOULD SUBMIT?
You, if you are:
- A Canadian author. Authors in other countries, we will open up queries several times a year for you too.
- Writing stories that centre women — boldly, weirdly, beautifully.
- Exploring meaningful themes in genre, commercial, or literary fiction.
- Looking for a collaborative, transparent publishing experience.
- Ready to roll up your sleeves to help your book find the audience it deserves!
Submit Your Novel
We request that you submit your query via Google Forms. Please include the following information in the appropriate boxes on our Google Form:

- The first three chapters (or 10,000 words) in Word doc/docx via the upload box

If your novel is polished, powerful, and ready for a champion we want to hear from you. Let’s make some noise, Canada!
