Caffe Pettirosso

Diane Tucker

I know the rain has stopped

and the sun has come out only

when through the far window I see

the wind toss a girl’s copper hair, her round

head as flaming as a furnace-mouth.

Pavement most black, lines most yellow,

pigeon most pearly-shouldered now

on 11th Ave at newly bright East Pike.
