New Depths
From Pulp Literature Issue 46, we’re delighted to present you with a continuation of Jordan Bray’s ‘silent’ comic, The Drift, the first part of which appeared in Issue 40, Autumn 2023. The full comic, in glorious hardcover, comes out from Wharfinger’s Press later this year.
About Jordan’s inspiration for the comic, we can tell you this…
While travelling in Sydney, Australia, Jordan had a sudden anomalous desire for some visual world building. In his frenzy, he bought a stack of huge paper and a drawing board and, on a threadbare couch in a hostel, drew the first four pages. With no real direction in mind save for a brave protagonist setting off to discover what lies beyond the edge of what he knows, Jordan set out to explore ‘what lies beyond the drift’.
Enjoy the first two pages of part two of this comic below.

In his work, Jordan Bray attempts to convey the intrigue of the horizon (and grants permission to groan at the pretension). He is drawn to ventures, adventures, and misadventures in strange and interesting places. Jordan has been drawing for the better part of thirty-eight years and is always hunting for that golden balance between passion and profit. Visit him on Instagram @artofjordanbray.
