Farewell to Our Pulp Poetry Duo

Daniel Cowper has been our poetry editor from the very beginning of Pulp Literature back when we were plotting Issue 1 in 2013. He was joined by his wife, Emily Osborne on Issue 20, Autumn 2018 and the two of them have been working tirelessly to bring scintillating poetry to our pages. Aside from 48 issues of the magazine, between them they have curated eleven shortlists for the Magpie Award and two Kingfisher Prize shortlists, all while starting a family, building a house, and releasing several books of poetry each through various presses.
After eleven years as our poetry editors at Pulp Literature Press, this talented couple is moving onto new ventures. While goodbyes are always bittersweet, we are looking on in anticipation to see what they will do next!
For a hint at what lies ahead for this duo, join us in celebrating some recent news ..
Daniel Cowper’s nove in verse, Kingdom of the Clock, was published this year by McGill-Queen’s University Press. Find this novel exploring contemporary urban living here!
And congratulations are also in order for Emily Osborne, whose translation of ‘Cruel Loss of Sons’ by Egill Skallagrímsson, originally seen in The Paris Review Issue 250, was longlisted for Deep Vellum’s Best Literary Translations 2025 Anthology.

Thank you again to Daniel and Emily for all of their hard work these past eleven years. Under their thoughtful eyes, Pulp Literature has been able to populate each issue with beautiful, moving works of poetry. And their selections for our annual poetry contests, through their curation of each longlist and shortlist, have resulted in groups of winning poems that continue to delight us, our readers, and our judges!
We wish Daniel and Emily the best in their next endeavours!
While Daniel and Emily are moving on, we at Pulp Literature Press remain determined to publish evocative poems of all kinds! Stay tuned to the blog for updates, and for an announcement regarding poetry submissions and our next poetry editor!
